Privacy policy

DhuJ is made by Saurav Vinodh Kumar, an individual developer in India ("we", "us"). This page explains what information the DhuJ app and this website handle.

Your files stay on your PC

  • The list of file names DhuJ builds is stored only on your PC.
  • Searching inside files happens on your PC.
  • We never receive your files, their names, their contents, their locations or the words you search for.

What the app sends to our licence server

To run the 30-day trial and to check a Pro licence, the app contacts our server, which runs on Cloudflare. It sends:

  • a device identifier: a code derived from your Windows installation that identifies the PC, not you;
  • your licence key, if you have one.

The server stores the device identifier, the date the trial started and the licence key linked to that device. The app also asks the server what the latest version is, so it can tell you about updates.

Optional usage statistics

The first time you open DhuJ it asks whether we may collect anonymous usage statistics. If you say no, nothing is sent. If you say yes, the app sends events to PostHog, an analytics service hosted in the United States, such as:

  • the app was opened, how many trial days remain and whether it is licensed;
  • a search was run, which kind of search it was and how many results it returned;
  • which action was used on a result (open, copy, send or move);
  • the upgrade screen was shown or a purchase was started or completed.

These events are linked to the device identifier. They never include search words, file names, file paths or file contents. To change your choice later, email us and we will tell you how.

Payments

Purchases are handled by Paddle.com, which is the seller of record. Paddle collects your name, email address, billing country and payment details under its own privacy policy. We never see your card details. We receive the order details, including your email address, so that we can provide your licence and support.

This website

This website sets no cookies and has no trackers or adverts. It is hosted on Cloudflare, which processes standard technical information such as your IP address in order to deliver the pages and protect the site.

Email

If you email us, we keep your message and address so that we can reply and help you.

How long we keep information

  • Trial and licence records are kept for as long as the licence is in use, so the app keeps working.
  • Usage statistics are kept only for as long as we need them to understand how the app is used.

Your choices

You can ask us for a copy of the information linked to your device or purchase, or ask us to delete it, by emailing support@getdhuj.com. Deleting a licence record stops that licence from working. We do not sell your information to anyone.

Children

DhuJ is not aimed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect information from them.

Changes

If this policy changes, we will update this page and the date at the top.
